Jack Meyer, CPA
Jack Meyer CPA MBA is a graduate of the University of Colorado in political
science, Phi Beta Kappa, where he also earned his MBA. He moved to Missoula
in 1977 and joined the practice of Keith Byington, CPA. This practice
merged with Tom Deveny in 1980. Jack was born and raised in Denver and
moved to Montana to take advantage of the splendor of Montana’s
great outdoors. He is active in the community with the Missoula County
Airport Authority, Play Ball Missoula and a variety of other civic organizations.
Jack’s practice focuses on income tax planning and preparation,
new business consulting, mediation, and estate planning. You can reach

John T. Boyle, CPA
John T. Boyle CPA joined the firm in 1982 and has
been a partner since 1984. John is a native of Butte, but grew up in Great
Falls and graduated from UM in 1976 with a BS in finance. He worked in
banking for several years before returning to UM to obtain an accounting
degree in 1981. John has been active in various community endeavors, and
currently serves on the Montana Community Development Corporation board.
John is a sporting enthusiast, and can often be found on a playing field
or golf course. In between sports, his practice emphasizes tax preparation,

Rena Hansen, CPA
Rena Hansen CPA joined the firm in 1991 and became a partner in 2002.
She was born and raised near Darby, Montana. Rena started her tenure
with the firm as the “tax season copy girl” and eventually
completed her BS in accounting in 1997. Her practice focuses on business
and individual tax preparation, small business setup and consulting,
and financial statement preparation. Rena has been involved with the
Missoula Food Bank, Child Care Resources, Leadership Missoula and Play
Ball Missoula. She enjoys skiing, fishing, hiking, Grizzly football

Marie Hebnes, CPA
Marie Hebnes CPA joined the firm in 1980 and became a partner in 2002.
She was born in eastern Montana and raised in western Montana, and is
now firmly rooted in Grizzly and Osprey territory. While working at
BDM in various capacities, she studied at UM and graduated with her
BS in accounting in 1989. Marie supervises financial compilations and
reviews, oversees quality control for the firm, and concentrates on
individual, business, and corporation income tax. She is a long-time
director of Big Brothers and Sisters of Missoula, having served as treasurer

Christina Twohig, CPA
Christina Twohig CPA joined the firm in 2003. Born and raised in
Missoula, she received her BS from the University of Montana in 2000 and
her Masters of Accountancy in 2001. Before joining BDM, Christina worked
in Oregon for Moss Adams LLP and in Missoula as a tax preparer and
financial auditor. She is board treasurer of Blue Mountain Clinic; she
also has been secretary and vice president of the Missoula Chapter of
the Montana Society of CPAs and board treasurer of the Loyola
Foundation. At BDM her practice includes business and personal income
tax preparation, non-profit services, trust and estate compliance and
financial statement preparation and consulting. In her free time,
Christina enjoys traveling with her husband and hiking with their two
German Shorthaired Pointers.

Jennifer Knoetgen
Jennifer Knoetgen joined the firm in 1998. She has a BA in sociology
with a concentration in women’s studies from Binghamton University
in New York, and became a QuickBooks® Pro Advisor in 2002. At BDM
Jen manages the service department which provides payroll and bookkeeping
setup, training, troubleshooting, and compliance. She specializes in
configuring client accounting software, particularly QuickBooks®,
to deliver the desired financial reporting to owners and managers. She
also prepares income tax returns and supports our in-house technology.
Jen was raised on a farm in rural upstate New York. She now has a farm
in Montana and competes with her horses in endurance and

Tom Deveny, CPA (Retired)
Tom Deveny retired in April of 2008. Tom Deveny CPA earned a BS in accounting from the University of Montana in 1975, had a solo practice in Missoula during the mid-seventies, and merged his firm with the Byington firm in 1980. Tom is from Hysham, Montana where he still goes to visit the family ranch, usually driving a pickup with license plates H Lazy Heart and likely involving his horses and dogs in hunting and fishing. Tom is on the board of the Big Sky Upland Bird Association, and serves as the director of the Clark Fork Valley Bank and the Airway Bank. He is a supporter of many of Missoula's non-profits.
Nancy Harrington, CPA
Our dear friend and partner, Nancy Harrington CPA MBA, passed away tragically in a canoeing accident in January 2008. Her staff, clients and friends will miss her expertise, patience and kindness. She joined the firm in 1986. She grew up in California and graduated in history from Smith College, Massachusetts in 1967. After raising black sheep in Florence, MT, Nancy became a CPA in 1982 and received her MBA from the University of Montana in 1984. She worked with many non-profits and has served on the boards of Intermountain Planned Parenthood, Missoula Food Bank and Child Care Resources. We will never forget her.
Karen Neel, CPA
Karen Neel CPA joined the firm in 1995. She was raised on Long Island,
NY and in the Adirondack mountains. Karen received a BS in forest biology
from SUNY Syracuse in 1978, and a Masters in Accountancy from UM in
1994. Between the two degrees Karen worked on Forest Service seasonal
field crews as well as desk jobs at St. Patrick Hospital and Food Services
of America. She still gets outdoors as much as possible – biking,
backpacking, kayaking, skiing and gardening. She has served many years
on the board of Watson Children’s Shelter as secretary/treasurer,
and board president. She is the treasurer for Garden City Harvest. Karen’s practice at BDM includes tax returns
for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and not-for-profit entities,

Kelly Sax, CPA
Kelly Sax CPA joined the firm in 2004 after working the 2002 and 2003 tax
seasons for BDM and earning her Masters of Accountancy from the University
of Montana. A native of Missoula, Kelly graduated from the University
of Montana in 1989 with a BA in Mathematics and Physics Education. After
teaching in southern California, she returned in 1991 to open an espresso
bar and café, The Catalyst, which she continues to own in downtown
Missoula.

Jaime Troiano, CPA
Jaime Troiano CPA joined the firm in 2006. She grew up in the Northeast and moved to Missoula in 1996. She received her BS and her Masters of Accountancy from the University of Montana. Before joining BDM, Jaime worked in Oregon for Deloitte & Touche, LLP and as an account manager in Missoula for Galusha, Higgins and Galusha. She is board President of Blue Mountain Clinic and serves on the board of WORD, Inc. At BDM, her practice includes business and personal income tax preparation, non-profit services, financial statement preparation and consulting. When she?s not crunching numbers, she enjoys running, biking, hiking, skiing, and adventure travel. Her recent exploits include climbing Mt. Mary Harris, CPA
Mary Harris CPA joined the firm in 2006. She was born and raised on a ranch near Valier, Montana. She received her BS in accounting from Montana State University in 1990. Mary has worked in public accounting for the past sixteen years, of which thirteen have been in Missoula at Bingham, Campbell, Amrine & Nolan PC. Her practice consists of individual and business income tax and financial statement preparation, consulting, and estate and trust compliance. She has been a certified QuickBooks Professional Advisor for the past five years. Mary loves spending time with her husband and four children and volunteering at the schools. Patrick Boyle
Pat Boyle CPA joined the firm in 2007. After obtaining his Masters in Accountancy in just over three years from the University of Montana, he went to work for a large accounting firm in Portland, OR. There he
focused on auditing and accounting for medium to large corporations with industry expertise in Construction, Manufacturing, and Banking. At BDM, his practice includes preparation of business and personal income

Becky Holdorf
Becky Holdorf CPA joined the firm in 2007. She was raised in Missoula and received her BS and Master of Accountancy from the University of Montana. Before joining BDM, she worked in Missoula as a financial auditor and tax preparer and then she moved to Boise and worked as a controller for a hospital. Upon missing her Montana lifestyle she returned to work as a financial auditor in Helena and eventually landed back in Missoula. At BDM, her practice includes personal, business and not-for profit tax preparation, financial compilations and reviews, and consulting. She has participated in the Leadership Missoula program through the Missoula Area Chamber of Commerce and has been involved with coaching YMCA youth soccer. The majority of her time is spent with her husband and two young children enjoying what Missoula has to offer, hiking the local trails, attending grizzly football games, skiing and golfing. Jessica Harris joined the firm in 2008 after working the 2007 tax season. She graduated with a BS in Business Administration from the University of Montana in 2006. Dennean Marzolf
Dennean Marzolf joined the firm in 2004. Dennean has extensive experience
in payroll and benefits administration. Her prior positions include
full-charge bookkeeping for a large residential construction company
and payroll processing for Missoula's largest school district. At BDM,
Dennean performs payroll, bookkeeping and a variety of service work
for our clients. A Montana native, Dennean and her family enjoy skiing,
camping and Grizzly football. Having a teenage daughter, any remaining

Leah McBreairty
Leah McBreairty joined the firm in 2005. At BDM, Leah performs bookkeeping, payroll, and other service work for our clients. Leah was born and raised in Maine and is a 1996 graduate of the University of Maine, Orono. In her free time she enjoys playing soccer and ultimate Frisbee, performing with the Missoula Community Concert Band, and pursuing the various outdoor opportunities that Montana has to offer including hiking, snowboarding, camping, and floating the rivers. Shannon Jacobs
Shannon Jacobs joined the firm in 2007. Shannon grew up in California and she and her family moved to Montana in 2004. She brings an extensive accounting background from the private industry having worked for eight years for one of the nation's leading car rental companies. Upon moving to Montana, Shannon was able to be a stay at home mom for two years while assisting her husband with the start up of his two businesses. Shannon has a BS in Mathematics from CSU Fresno and some post graduate courses in Accounting. Shannon works in the Service Department at BDM providing payroll, bookkeeping and other services for our clients. In her spare time, Shannon enjoys gardening, shopping, boating, the great outdoors, and spending time with her husband, John and their son, Chase. You can reach Shannon at

Carol Gordon
Carol Gordon joined the firm in 1991. She was born and raised in Seattle where she went to the University of Washington, then migrated to sunny Las Vegas and later to Kalispell. Carol is the mission control of BDM
– the receptionist, office manager, accounts receivable manager, and the person whose voice you hear when you call late at night with an accounting emergency. She participated in Leadership Missoula and
also serves on the City of Missoula Cemetery board. Carol is a big Nascar fan and goes to as many races as she can. She is also a doting grandmother with 11 grandchildren and she enjoys visiting them around the country. You can reach Carol at .
Jamie Anderson
Jamie Anderson joined the firm in 2002. She grew up in Geraldine, MT where her family owns a wheat and barley farm. She is a 2002 graduate of the University of Montana with a degree in political science and history. Jamie is an office assistant, payroll assistant, and she organizes the firm's paperless filing system, and BDM's Social Butterfly. In her free time Jamie enjoys cheering on the Griz, golfing and spending time with her family, friends, boyfriend Casey, and their pets Tiger and Cheeto. She can be reached at

Kathy Crowley-Haywood
Kathy Crowley-Haywood joined the firm in 1997. She grew up in Massachusetts,
then traveled the country looking for a great place to live, and settled
on Missoula. Kathy earned her BS in biology from the University of Montana,
and is working on a nursing degree. A new mom, Kathy enjoys spending
every moment she can with her son. She has also been active in neighborhood
associations for several years. At BDM Kathy oversees our electronic
filing of tax returns and assists the front office. You can reach her

Kathy Pritchard
Kathy joined the firm in 2007. She was born in eastern Montana, raised in Missoula and Helena and graduated from the University of Montana in 1977 with a degree in Communications. Kathy and her husband moved to LaGrange, Illinois after being married and lived there for 18 years. In 1996 they moved back to Missoula with their three children. Kathy has volunteered with many school fund raising projects, served on the house corporation board of Alpha Phi International Fraternity and reads for the Radio Reading Service. You will find Kathy at the front desk as a receptionist and helping with office administration. Kathy enjoys traveling, spending time at her cabin on Flathead Lake, running, hiking, and biking. Mike Stanley
Mike Stanley joined the firm in 2004. Mike has been in the Information
Technology field for 14 years and enjoys working and playing with computers
and electronics. At BDM he guides clients through the process of short
and long-term planning, ordering and installation of computer and other
technology systems, and then he supports their operation. In-house at
BDM he keeps all our computers and paperless filing and backup systems
running smoothly. Mike was born and raised in Missoula, Montana. He
enjoys outdoor activities including camping, fishing and lake activities.
